There is so much information out there on the subject of foot pain and plantar fasciitis and plantar fasciopathy (PF). PF sufferers are confused where to begin. The COOR approach to this common condition is slightly different and multidimensional. We know there are more people interested in learning how to improve their PF. So, here are 3 Keys to Plantar Fasciitis.
Rarely One Dimensional
You often hear your friend, coworker or health care provider tell you that X intervention is the ONE and only thing to help PF. They convince you this is the one thing for total resolution. You proceed in buying and often you’re disappointed. Then, you repeat this process all over again until you finally accept the most invasive and costly options are the best. Sadly, they’re usually not.
PF is rarely one dimensional. You’ll hear people say it’s because of your footwear. Or tight leg muscles. You change your footwear or stretch your legs, but it still comes back. Rarely is PF one dimensional, and a wise man we know will often tell people that you don’t bring a one dimensional solution to a multidimensional problem.
Knowing The Phase
Knowing which phase you’re in is helpful when choosing what to do on your own. You should ask your health care provider if they can identify if you’re in the Pain Phase or the Load Phase. Knowing which of these phases is critical for finding what intervention to choose.
For instance, you may have heard walking bare foot is bad for you. Well, that may be the case if you’re in the pain phase but that might be what is best for you in the load phase.
The Right Thing at the Right Time
Successfully overcoming PF requires an investment in time. We firmly believe you should NOT need to invest a lot of money into it. We recently heard a patient spent over $15,000 in treating their PF and received no improvement. We believe you need to invest time into learning how the condition develops and how to respond with the right interventions at the right time.
There is a time for ice. There is a time for massage. There is a time for strengthening and a time for resting. Figuring those things out will end your suffering and empower you to take great care of yourself.
What do I do?
Writing out the entire program would be impossible. If you want to know more, please let us know by clicking here and writing that you need to learn more. You can also learn by clicking here and watching the video (we plan to update this to reflect more current understanding of PF). While this video is helpful, there is a lot more to it than what is on here and we plan to help teach you more about PF. Or you can call us at 970-712-6059 to schedule with our doctor.
